Innovation - the key to Minx's success in brief

Minx's first footwear collection was launched in 2001 using NZ native Moki fish skin
as upper material, a world first.

In 2002 Minx was again the first in the world to use slim strips of New Zealand's own
fabulous Paua Shell, not only was it a visual feast but it also created a media frenzy
and went on to become a huge commercial success, capturing the imagination of the
average New Zealander.

2003 saw the launch of another first in footwear raw material innovation, in
conjunction with WRONZ 'Minx' commercialised a new fibre to fabric wool that is
ideally suited to winter fashion footwear.
"Fish, Abalone and wool might sound like an odd marriage but harvesting the bounty of the ocean and playing with plentiful wool is a ground breaking move that has earned the two sisters/entrepreneurs/footwear manufacturers from Waikanae, N.Z. a foothold in a very competitive market. " "In developing a 'Minx' range, we wanted shoes that were funky, feminine and beautiful, but also innovate in design and materials with a fit that is suited to our culture", Says Cushla "When the opportunity arose to use raw materials that were also environmentally sound, it seemed like a perfect opportunity." The small factory in Waikanae employs 14 staff and is bursting at the seams with orders; their goals are simple to offer their customer something innovative to take to the market year after fashionable year, creating excitement each season to buy. 'Minx' is known for its match as a fashion accessory to complete the total fashion look, and that's just the way the sisters want it."
